Top social media names in Australian PR and marketing – ranked by PeerIndex
One of the tools we use frequently when developing PR and social media strategies for clients is PeerIndex – a “web technology company that is algorithmically mapping the social web”. They’ve analyzed 6.3 million people to date and growing rapidly.
Along with its closest and perhaps better known competitor, Klout, it basically gives users of the social web (people who have a Twitter account, a blog, a LinkedIn profile etc) a score out of 100 and allows you to see where they sit against their peers in terms of authority, influence, relevance, social capital etc.
We like the groups feature on PeerIndex so to try it out we created a group, “Top social media names in Australian PR and Marketing” which was based on tweepr’s Top 100 list - “the thoughts and observations of Australia’s most followed PR specialists” as well as any marketing people we knew were active in social media.
It is most definately a work in progress so please check out the list below and let us know who else should be on the list.
Both tools have their fair share of criticism about accuracy and relevance, but like any automated tool, it requires human insight and analysis to validate results and incorporate them into useful strategy or program.
